    Dear all,

Thank you for being a continued support for us in the Baltimore community. I’m sure you have recently seen in the news that many states are signing on to a compact to reform how electoral votes are given from each state.

As you know, our current system has states giving their votes to either the Republican or Democrat based on how many votes they received in each state. This can severely skew an election towards one candidate or another in spite of the popular vote for the country at large; as I’m sure you remember, in 2016 this made Hillary lose the presidency despite her 3 million vote lead.

This compact would have the signing-on states promise to give their electoral votes to the candidate with the most popular votes in the country as a whole, regardless of state results. This could be a potential game-changer and bring us more in line with our values as a representative democracy. Although Maryland ultimately gave its electoral votes to Hillary, Maryland’s signing on to this compact is vital as the compact requires the equivalent of 270 electoral votes to go into effect for the 2020 election. Therefore, I encourage you to bring this up in the state legislature when you reconvene to help us modernize our elections and ensure the popular winner is the overall winner.

I thank you for your time and recognition,

    Rob Glass

    Hello,

I am hoping you can help me or direct me to someone who can. I live in Baltimore City off of Kane and Hudson Street. Currently there are two individual vacant homes that have been abandoned for the past 2-3 years. Sadly, I live between the two houses. Needless to say they are an eye sore, and in addition to that, my neighbors and I continually call 311 and request services for cleanup, to have windows boarded, as well as call for police service due to drug and homeless activity. The houses are boarded up but now the several individuals are using the shed in the back of the house to do drugs. One was arrested yesterday. There are 3 male individuals who even after the police had left, returned to hang out in the shed.

These houses are in shambles and are literally falling down around the seams, not to mention destroying our property value. The address for each house is: 6706 Hudson Street, 21224, and 6710 Hudson Street, 21224

Please help me with this issue. I am at a loss.

    Sincerely,

    Paula Waters
